We’re located on the corner of 16aint That the Truth & Preach Street. Did y’all know I was corny? And if you don’t know, now you know!
The front of the building, the stoop, where if you lived in NYC while growing up or know anything about this city, you treat the stoop as the hang out spot. From hopscotch to double dutch to sneakily smoking loose cigarettes because la juventud (the youth). Yes, I am definitely telling you my age here! (GULP!) I never questioned who I was on that stoop. I never doubted who was on my side when chilling on my block. I didn’t worry about any of the superficiality I’ve become obsessed with now. Life was so much simpler. That’s exactly what I’d like this space to be for you, for us, the hang out spot; where we can be authentic, where we can challenge each other, where we can grow.
I’m known for being very open with my personal life, there is nothing I won’t share. Well, except that one time…at…yea, let’s just leave it at that. I believe that many people find my walk with God very interesting, to say the least. There is a widely held perception of who Jesus is but moreover who the church has made Him out to be. Walking with God with all those “restrictions” is just not cool (that’s the perception) but He’s changed my life and I get to live to tell it. In a raw way. Some people want to sugarcoat the truth, that has never been my style. I’ll admit I need to reign it in from time to time, can I get some grace + an amen?

A SAFE PLACE
So, what’s the goal here? I’m glad you asked! To share more of me and my gifts with you as I build my online community. That’s writing, teaching a little sumthin’ sumthin’ and praying for you all. All the while sharing more about me, because I am an open book! This online community will serve as leverage when I roll out my youth program and as I continue facilitating spaces for healing for both women + youth. Your support helps others! If you identify as a man + you’re reading this, I’m curious to know if you’d join a writing workshop. Or why not? Slide in my DMs! (Permission granted)
For my new friends, way back when, I started documenting my walk with God because I was so new to the faith and my life was different. And I do mean, different. I was compelled to SHARE + that’s when I started a blog! I guess this is JFER PARTIE DEUX. God changed my whole career and errrrthang! My life transformation was very real, guys! If you’d like to read some of that, feel free (there’s a link there) tell me what you think!
So yea, I’m a writer. I LOVE writing so please tell me there’s still a generation of folks who read? I may or may not include videos here but can we start with reading first? ;-) That’s it for now, just wanted to welcome my new online community! Have a seat, stay a while, unwind with JFer.
